KERBSIDE/BLUE WHEELIE BIN RECYCLING SCHEME
As part of our ongoing plans to help our customers recycle and recover
more of their waste and help us to comply with current Waste Management
Plans, we have now distributed blue wheelie bins to all our existing wheelie
bin customers for the collection of mixed dry recyclables throughout our
customer base since early 2004.
There is an alternate weekly collection of general refuse and mixed dry
recyclables i.e. your general refuse wheelie bin collected one week and
then your blue wheelie bin collected the next week and so on.
What happens if the wrong material is put into the blue wheelie bin?
It is very important to place only the correct materials into this blue
wheelie bin. If unacceptable materials are put into the blue wheelie bin
then it will not be emptied, as this would lead to the contamination of
the entire recyclables collection.
A red sticker indicating rejection will be placed on the handles of your
blue wheelie bin if contamination occurs.
It is important to rinse out cans, tins, bottles, and cartons containing
any food residues as these materials can only be recycled if they are
clean. Paper must also be clean and dry. Please remember that our employees
have to handle the dry recyclables at our facility.
What will happen if I put my general refuse wheelie bin out on the blue
wheelie bin collection day?
If you put your general refuse wheelie bin out on the blue wheelie bin
collection day then it will not be emptied. This is because the general
refuse waste will contaminate the recyclables collection.
