PAY BY WEIGHT
How is my waste weighed?
- All our Lorries have been fitted with wheelie bin weighing and identification
equipment.
- Each wheelie bin is fitted with a unique microchip which is linked
to your account.
- When the wheelie bin is full the system records the full weight as
it is raised, and the empty weight as it is lowered. There is no manual
calculation, only the nett weight of waste is recorded. The weighing
system also reads the microchip fitted in your wheelie bin and this
nett weight is allocated to your account.
- This equipment is certified by the Legal Metrology Service which is
a division of the National Standards Authority of Ireland and will be
subject to regular testing by the authority.
How often are invoices issued?
- Invoices are issued in advance, every January for the full year ahead.
If you are a new customer joining throughout the calendar year, invoices
will be issued from your start date to end of calendar year and every
January for full year thereafter.
- Invoice amounts must be paid in advance. You can pay in full or by
installments e.g. yearly, half yearly, quarterly.
- There are many difference ways to pay your invoice.
- Post Office Bill Pay
- Shop Bill Pay
- Direct Debit
- Visa / MasterCard / Laser (in person at our office or by phone)
- Cheque / Postal Order (in person at our office or by post)
- When payment is received, we issue you with a paid up to date sticker
for each of your wheelie bins.
- You must have an up to date sticker on your wheelie bins at all times
as this is the only proof for our operatives that you have paid for
our refuse service.
- Note if invoices are based on weight estimates, sticker dates may
be subject to change by Mulleady's if excess weights are produced.
What are the current charges?
- There is a fixed service charge for the collection of each wheelie
bin (waste & recycling). Please contact our office for current service
charges.
- Waste & recycling wheelie bins are emptied on alternate weeks (i.e.
26 collections of waste wheelie bin & 26 collections of recycling wheelie
bin in one year).
- Waste wheelie bin material (green/black wheelie bin) is charged at
a rate per kilogram (currently 0.15 cent plus VAT).
- There is no weight charge for recyclable wheelie bin material i.e.
all your recyclable material is free of charge.
- As invoices are issued in advance, your waste weight is estimated.
- If you produce less than the estimated waste weight for the invoice
period, the relevant credit will appear on your next invoice.
- If you produce more than the estimated weight for the invoice period,
the relevant debit will appear on your next invoice.
YOU CAN CLAIM TAX RELIEF ON YOUR PAY BY WEIGHT WHEELIE BIN COLLECTION
CHARGES AT THE STANDARD RATE.
How do I maximise recycling and keep my charges as low as possible?
- To avail of the benefits of Pay by Weight, you must use your blue
recycling bin for all your dry recyclables. The instructions are clearly
printed on the lid of your recycling bin.
- Please ensure that your recycling bin is not contaminated with non-recyclable
products and that your recyclable products are clean and dry.
- Your blue wheelie bin can not be emptied if non-recyclables are found
in it as this would cause contamination to the entire collection. Spot
checks and inspections will be carried out to ensure that the correct
material is being placed into recycling bins.
- You should always use your local Bottle and Glass Banks for your glass
bottles and glass.
- To keep your waste charges down, you should not place any heavy items
inside your waste wheelie bin e.g. metal, stones, clay etc.
- Watch out that outsiders do not place any waste inside or alongside
your waste wheelie bin as this material will be weighed and charged
to your account. The use of each wheelie bin is the householder's responsibility.
Mulleadys Ltd. can not monitor unauthorised depositing of waste inside
or alongside your wheelie bin.
- We recommend that all wheelie bins be left out for collection before
7a.m. as we cannot guarantee that wheelie bins will be emptied at the
same every week due to circumstances beyond our control.
- Wheelie bins should be left out on the path, outside of your house
(unless agreed otherwise) with the handles pointing towards the road.
Where does Household waste go?
- As required by our EPA Licence the non-recyclable household waste
goes to a licenced landfill facility for disposal.
Where does Recycled Household waste go?
- All recycled material is brought to our materials handling facility
in Cloonaugh, Drumlish, Co. Longford where it is sorted and processed
before being shipped to EPA approved outlets. As most of these materials
are hand sorted, for the health and safety of our employees it is very
important that only the correct materials are placed inside your recycling
bin.
