When our collection vehicle has emptied your recycling bin and all the other recycling bins it makes it way back to our waste Materials Recovery Facility.
The material is passed through a picking station (large conveyor belt). Materials such as newspapers, magazines, cardboard, plastic bottles, plastic film and tetra pak are handpicked and individually sorted by our dedicated staff.
An over band magnet takes off the steel cans.
An eddy current separator takes off the aluminium cans.
The individually picked material is then loaded into a baler where it is baled. The bales are stored on site until such time as they are removed to an appropriate outlet.
All recycling and waste outlets are approved in advance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Mulleady’s Ltd is licensed by the EPA (W0169-01).
It is imperative that we recycle as much waste as possible in order to meet Government Policy Targets and to divert as much as possible away from landfill. The following are some of the targets we need to reach over the next few years:
Through Mulleady’s high rates of recycling have occurred over the past number of years. 55% of the total waste intake during 2008 was recycled. Mulleady’s strive to increase these rates and achieve an even higher rate during 2009.
